Railink’s 12th Anniversary & Book Launch

Last September 28, 2018 commemorated 12 years of Railink. Although the Soekarno Hatta Airport Train only started its operation on January 2, 2018 and the Medan-Kualanamu Airport Railway on July 25, 2013, the concept of the Airport Train was first initiated in 2006. For this year's anniversary, Railink also launched a book titled "Railink on Moving Forward" written by Yayasan Kereta Anak Bangsa (KAB) which summarized the 12 years journey in bringing the first Airport Train to Indonesia.

The event was attended by initiators of the Airport Train in Indonesia, Edie Haryoto (Director of AP2 and KAI at the time), Salahudin Rafi (Chief Commissioner of PT Railink), Dwi SR, Joko Setiowarno (MTI) who shared their stories about determining routes and overcoming various obstacles until Kualanamu Airport Railway finally operated.

On the occasion, Director of Railink, Heru Kuswanto, presented the company's innovations to date, one of which is to become the first train service in Indonesia to fully implement electronic tickets with a system that was built independently ( ARTS-Cashless, Manless, Paperless). Another challenge that remains to be solved by Railink is integration/connectivity between modes of transportation, increasing user volumes, and changing the people's transportation habit, to prefer train when traveling to and from the airport.

A positive response about the Airport Train was conveyed by a frequenter of the airport train, Ibu Mela, who expressed her appreciation for the Airport Train service and officers who are proactive in helping passengers. Mela takes the Soekarno-Hatta Airport train every day from Batu Ceper-Station, BNI City Station. She hopes in the future there will be an additional schedule for the Soekarno-Hatta Airport during the night.

The event was then followed by the symbolic signing of the launch of the "Railink on Moving Forward" book, followed by a celebratory 'tumpeng' cutting by President Director of Railink and the commissioners, and donation for children of Yayasan Satu Benih.
